A beautifully crafted Wedgwood teapot from the early 19th century, combining the rich terracotta hue of Rosso Antico with finely detailed black basalt reliefs. This striking contrast exemplifies Wedgwood’s mastery in both form and finish during the neoclassical period.
The teapot features elegant figural and foliate decorations in applied basalt, meticulously positioned across its warm red body. A rare and refined piece of historic English pottery.
Markings:
Impressed “WEDGWOOD” and potter’s marks clearly visible on the base, consistent with early 19th‑century production.
Condition:
Very good overall. Some tiny firing cracks appear on the basalt reliefs, typical of the age and material.
