Extremely Rare Wedgwood Jasperware Furniture Knob – Juno with Altar, Circa 1780
Solid Grey-Blue Jasper with White Relief in Original Period Metal Mount
An exquisite and extremely rare 18th-century Wedgwood small furniture knob, featuring a classical jasperware medallion of Juno, Queen of the Gods. She is depicted in fine white relief, crowned with a diadem, holding a sceptre, and accompanied by her sacred bird—the peacock—next to a classical altar.
Crafted in solid grey-blue jasperware and mounted in a finely detailed period metal setting, this piece exemplifies the neoclassical aesthetic and precision that made Wedgwood world-renowned. The reverse appears to be held in place with original white cement, consistent with 18th-century mounting techniques.
